FIRE ACADEMY

The Dammeron Valley Fire & EMS Training Center’s Fall Fire Academy is an immersive, hands-on program designed to prepare the next generation of firefighters to serve their communities with professionalism, skill, and integrity. 

Our Fire Academy delivers the essential training you need to respond effectively in emergency situations. Students will gain a strong foundation in fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous materials response, and firefighter safety. 

What You’ll Learn:

• Fire behavior and the science of combustion 

• Personal protective equipment (PPE) and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) use 

• Fireground operations and hose handling techniques 

• Ladders, ventilation, and forcible entry 

• Structural firefighting search and rescue techniques 

• Wildland fire response basics 

• Teamwork and communication under pressure 

• Vehicle Extrication techniques 

• Firefighter survival skills 

Classes are taught by Utah Fire & Rescue Academy (UFRA) certified instructors and active fire service professionals, blending classroom learning with realistic scenario-based training. You’ll train side-by-side with other motivated individuals committed to public safety, personal growth, and community impact. Upon successful completion of the Fire Academy, you will have met the requirements established by UFRA to obtain your Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations certifications.
