Stage 1 fire restrictions currently in place across Southern Utah will be rescinded effective 12:01 AM on Friday, 12 August. The restrictions were put in place in June to mitigate the risk of wildfire in the face of continued low precipitation, excessive heat, and dry fuel conditions. With recent and ongoing monsoonal moisture, conditions have improved and resulted in reduced wildfire hazard in the region.

The restrictions will be lifted for all unincorporated private land and all state lands within Washington, Iron, Beaver, Garfield, and Kane counties. This rescindment does not affect private lands within incorporated cities or towns.

Please note that fireworks are never permitted in Dammeron Valley or on the surrounding public lands. Residents of Dammeron Valley are also prohibited from burning debris and yard waste on their properties without securing a burn permit, which are requested online and only issued when wind and air quality conditions meet state and county requirements.
