Utah Governor Spencer Cox issues Executive Order declaring drought

On 24 April, Utah Governor Spencer Cox signed Executive Order 2025-04 declaring a State of Emergency due to drought conditions in 13 Utah counties, including Washington County.
The Order notes that the April snowpack peak in Southwestern Utah was 44% of normal and average winter temperatures were two degrees warmer. This has resulted in a water forecast of 30% of normal for the region.
The Order activates the state's Emergency Operations Plan and requires certain actions from various state agencies. It also calls upon residents to implement water conservation measures, such as repairing and maintaining irrigation systems, repairing household leaks, and choosing drought tolerant landscaping options.
